PML-N decries C class jail facilities to Maryam

LAHORE: The PML-N has criticised the government for giving C class facilities to the party’s Vice President Maryam Nawaz in jail.

The former first daughter was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand by an accountability court last Wednesday in a money laundering case.

Hitting out at the government for giving Ms Nawaz C class jail facilities, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Maryam Nawaz’s only crime was that she secured a share in the family’s properties from her grandfather, Mian Sharif. Calling it political vendetta, she said Maryam deserved B class as per jail manual, but Imran Khan’s government was usurping even legal rights of political rivals.

Alleging that the government had crossed all limits in political vendetta, the spokesperson said banning home-cooked meals, changing her class and treating her like a habitual criminal would fail to weaken Maryam’s resolve.

She was never elected or hold any official position but her only crime is “she is a political threat to current setup”. No trial and no conviction but yet she is in prison. Her previous conviction was thrown out by islamabad high court calling it a joke.

She is the Vice President one of the largest political party of the country. She has been assigned "C' class in jail. Please note she will not remain in jail for ever. Very soon she will be released from prison. In fact she is strong candidate to become Chef Executive of the country. She is strong enough to bear the hard ship of jail. Jail tenure will go long way in promotion of her campaign for becoming head of state of the country. The point which I like to light is by living in"C" class of jail, she will be fully know the problems of prison. On becoming head of state she will definately bring reforms in judicial system and prison.

Hopefully, they will be more lenient when some others face the music. Under the law, graduates and tax-payers get better facilities. She qualifies on both counts as well as being on remand, never held any public office, corruption of state resources or the public's money does not apply.
