RAWALPINDI: A two-member chief minister’s inquiry team arrived in the city on Saturday and inspected the dengue-hit areas besides checking the work of different teams.

The team also inspected facilities in three government hospitals.

The team, comprising Rana Fazal Abbas and Naveed Raza Sahu, also met the district administration officials. Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Khan Dogar briefed them about the number of patients and deaths from dengue.

He said all departments were working day and night to conduct fogging in the effected areas to avoid further spread of the virus.

He said the district administration declared 18 union councils as sensitive from where most of the dengue patients had arrived in hospitals.

Commercial centres, housing schemes, tyre shops and junkyards are being checked on a daily basis to detect dengue larvae.

He said FIRs had been registered against owners of commercial properties where dengue larvae had been found repeatedly. Apart from this, he said, fogging would be conducted in all the union councils.

During the last 24 hours, 2,602 outdoor spots were checked and dengue larvae found at four places along with 4,501 houses and 158 other sites.

Meanwhile, the team visited Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital and checked the facilities being provided to the patients.

They also inspected whether the pathological laboratories were issuing reports on time.

The team members will compile a report and submit it to Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday.
