Five drown in flood water

KHAIRPUR, Aug 2: At least five people drowned in flood waters of the Indus River and canals on Monday and Tuesday. The body of Shaman Shah, 30, was fished out from a lake near the Landhio police station.

Miskeen Shaikh, 30, drowned in a lake near Qasim Shah Band village on Monday evening in the katcha area of the Gambat taluka.

The victims were crossing the lakes but could not make it.

A baby drowned when flood water entered Khanan Narejo village on Monday.

Her name could not be ascertained. Three-year-old Seema Shaikh and four-year-old Saira Shaikh drowned in Faiz Wah on Monday.

The bodies were fished out on Tuesday near Maliha village. The parents of two girls are labourers at date gardens.

KILLED: A woman was killed by her husband over some domestic problem near Thehri on Monday night.

Hazar Khan tortured his wife Allah Bachai Chohan near Tehhri. The couple had come from Bakar village, Rohri taluka, for labour at date orchard. The accused managed to escape.

KIDNAPPED: A man, Muzaffar Khokhar, was kidnapped by five armed men on Monday night near Dehat village on the National Highway.
