NAWABSHAH: Activists of Pakistan Peoples Party took out rallies and held demonstrations outside press clubs in several Sindh towns on Sunday to condemn Centre’s move to invoke Article 149 with regard to Karachi and formation of a committee on the metropolis’ affairs.

In Nawabshah, the protesters led by PPP leaders Ali Akbar Jamali, Ghulam Shah Leghari and others held a demonstration outside local press club and criticised statement of federal law minister.

They said that Imran Khan and his team were sowing uncertainty and chaos in Sindh. The federal minister should be booked under Article 6 for issuing such divisive statements, they said.

Activists of Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz also took out a rally and held a demonstration against a section of electronic media for sowing biasness on the issue.

The protesters’ leaders said that Karachi committee would not be accepted at any cost and demanded its immediate dissolution.

MIRPURKHAS: Hundreds of PPP office-bearers and workers held a demonstration outside local press club, condemning the Centre’s move.

MNA Shamim Aara Panhwer and Seth Kiran Harim Ram, who led the protest, said that they would not allow anyone to separate Karachi from Sindh. The law minister who belonged to MQM-P was implementing his party’s old plan to divide the province, they said.

Similar protests were held in Digri, Tando Jan Muhammad, Jhuddo, Naokot, Kot Ghulam Mohammad and Mirwah Gorchani town etc.

MITHI: PPP workers led by local lawmakers took to the streets to register protest against the federal government’s Karachi committee.

MNA Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, MPA Fakeer Sher Mohammad Bilalani, Senator Gyanchand, special assistant to chief minister Veerji Kolhi and other PPP leaders said in their speeches at a gathering of party workers at Kashmir Chowk that it was another attempt by Imran Khan’s government to attack provincial autonomy.

They warned the leadership of PTI, MQM-P and GDA against tinkering with the Constitution and said that there was no need to form committees when an elected government was working efficiently in the province.

They said that the move had caused anger among people of the province and asked the federal government to shun such acts in the best interests of the country, which was faced with external threats.

UMERKOT: Activists of PPP took out a rally and staged a demonstration in protest against the formation of Karachi committee and the action was tantamount to interfering in provincial matters.

PPP MPA Syed Ali Mardan Shah, district chairman Dr Noor Ali Shah and others, who led the protest, said that the committee was an attack on provincial autonomy and Sindh would not tolerate it at any cost.

They asked the PTI leadership to mend their ways and stop from driving a wedge between the federation and the province.
