LAHORE: Pakistan have qualified for the quarter-final of the 20th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championships after registering a convincing 3-1 defeat over Kuwait in Tehran, Iran on Sunday.

Pakistan completed the victory against Kuwait with the scorelines 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 25-16.

After winning the first set rather easily, Pakistan showed complacency, losing the second to be on even keel. But from thereon Pakistan did not lose any set to book a place in the last eight.

According to information released by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation, Pakistan captain Aimal Khan displayed an outstanding game.He was well assisted by ace Murad Khan and Mubashar Raza, while Zaheer Khan excelled in blocking.

After defeating a giant Indonesia 3-2 on Saturday, the victory against Kuwait made Pakistan top team of the pool. South Korea as second team of this pool also entered the last eight.

Other countries, which have also moved up to the quarter-final stage are Japan, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Australia. Two more teams will be decided after the end of the pool matches.
