KARAK: A mineworker was killed when he was hit by a mudslide in a gypsum mine in Jatta Ismailkhel area of Banda Daud Shah here on Friday.

Eyewitnesses said that the victim identified as Lal Zada went inside the mine along with co-workers early in the morning when mudslide fell on him. The other miners managed to come out of the mine after the incident and informed other colleagues and locals about the mishap.

They immediately started efforts to retrieve the trapped miner. However, after few hours, they retrieved his body and shifted it to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Banda Daud Shah. Later, the body was handed over to relatives for burial.
