KARACHI: The Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCI&A) will launch an arbitration centre during its board of directors (BoD) meeting being held here on Nov15-16.

Secretary General ICCI&A Yousef Hasan Khalawi during this visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Friday said that 19 member countries of the chamber will be participating in the two-day meeting.

He said consensus on draft of arbitration was reached in the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) meeting recently held in Istanbul.

He further said that the ICCI&A arbitration centre will work on international standards and its technical requirements have been already met.

Regarding Halal food, Khalawi agreed that presently Halal food is being produced/processed and exported more by non-Muslim countries than Muslim states in the world market.

He said a study was being carried out on Halal food potential with the help of Qatar and the FPCCI can also make its contribution to it by appointing a consultant.
