GILGIT: Three children were killed and two injured by landslide near Chilas on Thursday.

According to police and Rescue 1122, the victims belong to Suniwal tribe. The members of Suniwal tribe search gold in river in traditional way. They move from one bank of river to another with their families in search of gold.

They said that landslide hit the camp of Suniwal tribe on the bank of river near Chilas, leaving three children dead and two injured. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. The names of victims couldn’t be ascertained.

Meanwhile, two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident.

Police said that Mohammad Haseeb and Khawar, belonging to Mansehra, were going from Hunza to Gilgit when their motorcycle fell into a deep ravine near Rahimabad. Both the motorcyclists were killed. The bodies of the victims were sent to their native area. Also, a policeman was killed in road accident.

Police said that ASI Abdul Hanif was going to his home in Hanzal valley on a motorcycle after performing duty in Gilgit. His motorcycle fell into deep ravine and he received injuries.

He was shifted to district headquarters hospital in Gilgit for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
