DADU, Aug 1: Police on Sunday continued raids on houses of Awam Dost candidates of six UCs of the Mehar taluka. Policemen from three stations — Thrari Mohabat, Fareedabad and Aghamani — established posts on roads leading to villages of the ADP candidates.

They are observing movement of ADP candidates and their sympathizers.

The ADP candidate for the post of naib nazim for the UC Neo Goth, Koro Agro and an independent candidate Mohammad Ali Khaskheli were not produced in any court on Monday.

They were recently detained by the police.

Sindh council PPP member Qazi Shafique Mahessar, Dr Talat Mahessar and Qambar Leghari alleged the police were supporting the candidates of the Dadu Ittehad panel.

They said the ruling party had made plan to get elected its candidates in the local body elections by hook or crook.

POWER OUTAGE: A power breakdown occurred at the Fareedabad feeder in the Mehar taluka on Sunday night.

As a result, power supply to Fareedabad town and 35 adjoining villages remained suspended for hours.

The consumers belonging to Noorani colony, Saqib, Wahdit and Khoso village staged a demonstration on the Fareedabad bypass.

Deedar Khoso and Hubdar Samoo led the protesters.

Speaking on the occasion, they expressed their surprise that Fareedabad was constituency of the federal minister for water and power, Liaquat Jatoi, but it was braving loadshedding and breakdowns.

They demanded that uninterrupted power supply should be restored to the area.
