Man killed in road accident

ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: An unidentified man was killed in a road accident near Tarnol on Monday.

The man, who appears to be in his 50s, was crossing G.T. Road when a car hit him. He was shifted to the hospital by passers-by, where he died of his injuries.

The police have registered a case against the unknown driver who managed to escaped from the scene. The body has been sent to Pims hospital.

CAR STOLEN: Police have arrested two robbers and recovered a snatched car from their possession.

Police said the robbers had snatched a car at gunpoint from Abdul Qadir in the Eid days. The car (LOF-3491) was recovered from Shagir Khan and Sabit Shah. Further investigations are underway.

BOOTLEGGERS HELD: The Rawalpindi police have held two persons and seized liquor bottles from their possession here on Monday.

The police said they had received information that Azeem and Abdullah Khan were involved in liquor trade.

On a tip off, a police party raided a house in F-Block, Muslim Town, and arrested the bootleggers. They also seized 550 liqour bottles from them.

Cases have been registered against them under Narcotics Act and Islamic Law

CHARAS SEIZED: Police on Monday arrested a drug trafficker, Kamran, and seized drugs from him.

Waris Khan police stopped a coach at Naz Cinema Bus Stop for routine checking of vehicles. During checking a passenger, Kamran, tried to escape, but was captured. On searching him, the police found 10kg of charas and 25 gms of heroin from his luggage.

During preliminary investigation, he admitted that he was a drug trafficker and was taking the narcotics to Islamabad.—PPI
