LAHORE, July 31: The body of Chaudhry Rehmat Ali, the leader who had proposed the name “Pakistan” in 1933, will be brought here from Cambridge on Aug 14 and buried in a township graveyard.

An announcement in this regard was made by PML president Chaudhry Shujaat at a news conference on Sunday in the presence of his information secretary Senator Tariq Azeem.

Chaudhry Rehmat Ali had died on Feb 3, 1951 after a brief illness and was buried in Cambridge as a trust. A body laid to rest as a trust can be shifted to another place for permanent burial.

Though efforts to bring back the body had been made by former generals Ayub Khan and Ziaul Haq as well, they yielded results when as prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat took up the matter with the British authorities.

Senator Azeem said that the matter got delayed because a lot of time was consumed in completing procedural formalities.

Mr Shujaat would go to Britain on Aug 12 and accompany the body on the Independence Day.
