OKARA: A suspect who was on physical remand in connection with a number of theft and illegal weapon cases died at the Basirpur Rural Health Centre on Monday.

According to police sources, the suspect, Qurban, was in police custody on physical remand at Basirpur police station. He was wanted in 12 cases, including those of theft and possession of illegal weapons, registered in various police stations of the district, they added.

He suddenly fell sick and was shifted to the local RHC by police where he died during treatment, the sources said.

The police, after completing legal procedure, handed over the body to the family of the deceased.
