KHAIRPUR, July 31: A man, Khurshid Malik, has lodged a case against Awam Dost Panel candidates Hakim Dayo and Abdul Khaliq Bhutto, Rasool Bux, Mazhar Ali, Riaz Ali and Mohammad Ismail for allegedly looting Rs9,000, a mobile phone and other valuables in Hingorja.

People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA Fazal Shah Jilani and Abdul Qadir Shah Jilani here on Sunday said the case against candidate for Hingorja nazim’s seat Hakim Dayo and candidate for naib nazim’s seat Abdul Khaliq was false and fabricated.

Former district nazim Nafisa Shah complained to the district returning officer that on the second day of scrutiny of nomination papers, police and PML-F candidates harassed ADP candidates to prevent them from contesting the election.

In a letter communicated to the district returning officer on Saturday, she said PML-F backed candidates were harassing ADP candidates through the district administration to prevent them from contesting elections.

She said a fake FIR was registered against ADP candidate of UC Saghiyoon, Qadirdad Mashoro, and his sons.

The proposer and seconder of nazim and naib nazim UC Hadal Shah, Hazoor Bux Ujjan and Panjal Ujjan, were held hostage before scrutiny which may result into rejection of their papers.

She said candidate for the post of nazim for UC Deparja, Khadim Sehto, and councillor Nasim Gul were detained by police for two hours.

She said candidate for naib nazim UC Sami, Ghulam Sarwar Tunio, was missing since the last two days. She said the proposer of ADP nazim candidate of union council Mandan, Sikandar Ali Bhambhan, had been ‘kidnapped’.

She said the president of the PPP Deparja town was detained by the police at some unknown location. She called upon the returning officer to conduct an inquiry into the incidents and take action against the responsible persons.
