Three killed in road accidents

GILGIT, Jan 14: Three people were killed and five others injured in two road accidents here on Monday.

Shah Zaman Astori, driver of a coaster, died when the vehicle fell off a bridge on the Karakoram Highway in Chilas, 200km south of Gilgit.

Five passengers were seriously injured in the accident, which, according to the Chilas police, occurred due to speeding.

Meanwhile, Jumma Hussain, resident of Shitial, and Abdur Razzaque, resident of Tangeer, were killed when a coaster and tractor trolley collided head-on on the highway in the same area.

Website on tourism: The Northern Areas Tourism Board has decided to launch a website for publicity of tourist destinations and handicraft.

In a meeting presided over by NAs Chief Secretary Fazal Durrani, the board agreed to forward recommendations for the formulation of a tourism policy in the Northern Areas.

The board constituted a standing committee to monitor the performance of tourism task force.
