KARACHI, July 30: Sri Lanka and Pakistan enjoy close friendly relations and there is need to further enhance the trade ties between the two countries. This was stated by the leader of media delegation from Sri Lanka, Gamini Weerakoon, during a visit to the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs on Saturday.

The members of the delegation are on the last leg of their week-long visit sponsored by the Institute of Policy Research Islamabad. The members of the visiting delegation included Noorul Ameen Izzadeen (Sunday Time), Jayasekara Bandula Parakun (The Islkand), Rashopmi Silva (Sunday Observer), Mohammad Nishtar Cassim (Daily Mirror) and Tushara Gunarante (Daily Lanka Deepa).

The visitors pointed out that the free trade agreement between Sri Lanka and Pakistan became effective from the last month and had not yet reached its full potential. Later, the delegation visited Dawn offices and met the editor and senior editorial staff.—APP
