KHAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers here on Wednesday staged a demonstration in Salarzai area against the party lawmaker for not inviting them to the foundation stone laying ceremony of a road project in the region.

Scores of workers from various localities of Salarzai tehsil participated in the rally held during PTI MNA Gul Zafar Khan’s visit to the region to inaugurate a road project.

They chanted slogans against the MNA and other party leaders for ignoring them in the foundation stone laying ceremony of Tofan Shah- Daman road project.

The workers said that the MNA and other local leaders had assured them that they would be taken on board on development activities in the region. They said that for last several months only those workers who belonged to influential families of the area were invited to party activities.

The protest was underway when the lawmaker along with his supporters reached the area in their vehicles and tried to pass from the road. However, the protesters did not allow them to pass from the road without listening to their grievances.

The protest turned into a brawl when the lawmaker’s companions along with a group of PTI workers approached the protesters to end their demonstration.

Later, personnel of Bajaur Levies reached the area and dispersed the protesters peacefully. When contacted, Ishaq Zia, a close aide of the MNA, confirmed the incident.
