KARACHI, July 28: The Pakistan People’s Party, Sindh chapter, has again drawn the attention of chief election commissioner to the alleged irregularities in local bodies election.

Mr Nafees Siddiqui, Secretary-General of the PPP Sindh, while appreciating the CEC’s action regarding the reallocation of minorities’ seats and allotment of symbols, protested against the shifting of some polling stations in Karachi.

In a letter, he reminded the CEC that the issue of a polling station in UC-4, Jamshed Town, Karachi South, was still pending with the commission.

He complained that the provincial government was still making transfers and postings in violation of the electoral rules.

In this context, he cited the example of Khairpur district where Mr Ghulam Nabi Babar has recently been posted as assistant engineer in sub-division Thari Mirwah. The order was issued by Secretary Irrigation after announcement of the election schedule, he maintained, and recalled that the official had been posted in the same position during the 2002 local bodies election.
