LONDON, July 28: A London underground train station was evacuated and part of a main east-west line closed in a security alert on Thursday, three weeks after suicide bombers killed 52 people on the transport network, police said.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said Southwark station was closed and Jubilee Line services suspended between Waterloo in central London and Canary Wharf in the east London business district.

She said she had no more details. London police said they had no immediate information.

Transport for London, which manages the capital’s transport system, said on its website a security alert had stopped trains in both directions ‘until further notice’.—Reuters
