QUETTA: A patient likely to be suffering from Congo virus was admitted to the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital on Thursday.

The patient belonging to Pishin district was brought to the hospital with bleeding from mouth and nose and high fever. The hospital officials said that the patient was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital.

“A blood sample of the patient has been dispatched to Karachi for diagnosis,” hospital officials said, adding that the symptoms indicated that the man was suffering from Congo virus. However, they said that the report would be received in the next couple of days.

In the last four months, 25 patients suspected of having Congo fever were brought to the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital from different areas of the province and 11 of them were confirmed with diagnosis. Mostly, Congo virus patients brought to the hospital were involved in herding business.
