KARACHI, Jan 14: Pakistan is the first country among the seven-member countries of Saarc where a Saarc Health Care Foundation has been established.

This was stated by Sindh Health Minister Ahsan Ahmed during a meeting of the board of trustees of the Saarc Health Care Foundation with the governor of Sindh, Mohammedmian Soomro, here on Monday.

On the occasion the Patron of the Foundation, Provincial Ombudsman Haziqul Khairi, requested the governor to become the chief patron of the Foundation and make its objective successful.

Ahsan Ahmed said contacts had been made with Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for the establishment of Saarc Health Care Foundation there.

This way, he said, the poor people of Saarc countries would be extended health care facilities in a coordinated manner.

The governor appreciated the aims of the Saarc Health Care Foundation and the hard work put in and efforts made by the Board of Trustees and assured them of his full cooperation.
