China says Western politicians stirring Hong Kong troubles

A Chinese official said on Monday that some Western politicians are stirring unrest in Hong Kong in hopes of creating difficulties that will impede China's overall development.
Yang Guang, spokesman for the Cabinet's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, said such attempts will come to nothing because Beijing will tolerate no outside interference in the affairs of the former British colony, which has been wracked by nearly two months of pro-democracy protests.
Yang said at a news conference that some people in the West applied “strange logic” that prompted them to be sympathetic and tolerant to “violent crimes” while criticising the police force's “due diligence".
"At the end of the day, their intention is to create trouble in Hong Kong, make Hong Kong a problem to China, in order to contain China's development,” Yang said, without mentioning any specific individuals or countries behind the "irresponsible remarks".
The protests in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory began in early June as a call to withdraw an extradition bill that would have allowed people in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China to stand trial.
Since the government indefinitely suspended the legislation, demonstrators have broadened their scope to demand greater democracy and government accountability.
Police on Sunday repeatedly fired tear gas and rubber bullets to drive back protesters blocking Hong Kong streets with road signs and umbrellas.

China wants democratic Hong Kong that votes and elects its leader, to give up democracy, and accept autocratic communist rule. Autocratic communist rule were there is no voting, no criticism of any politicians or their faulty policies allowed. Where censorship runs deep and government own everything including your home.
Hong kong doesnt want that, once people have tasted democracy, liberty and freedom you can never put them back in autocratic cage with taped lips. They will resist it.
Blaming west for it is futile. Hong kong and Taiwan people dislike China

Understanding today’s China is easy, it’s not a communist state the system though autocratic, but freedom of choosing profession is there, today numerous Chinese entrepreneurs have their Cos everywhere in world, Chinese are most prosperous today. There are some weak areas like Uighurs, HK, Macao, Taiwan,
where people are hesitant to integrate in modern China system, but that the no big deal, they can continue free enterprise economy, and enjoy autonomous economy, but must not resort to violent protests, or destroy property, or take law into their hands, China is quite capable to move ahead in unison with all section of people,in harmony. The proof of China diversity is the highest numbers of branches, liaisons,affiliates, franchises, of world famous companies in the world,
you name the Co, it’s there in China. Remember China is a biggest magnet for
safe investments in trade zones.

It's very clear to all that the UK and USA are using covert strategies to destabilize Chinese presence and economic interests in Hong Kong. The UK is afraid of losing business after Brexit and wants to reassert its old colonial status in the Far East; while the USA is continuing its trade wars against China in a dirty way. Both these states are also afraid they will be totally marginalised in a global trade economy once the Chinese One Belt -Road system becomes fully operational. Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South and Central Asia and also the Far East will be effectively linked as the British and the Americans will become mere footnotes to history.

@M. Emad, I believe that China should stop considering what others think and crush any dissent in Hong Kong firmly and decisively. They can send the dissidents there to join the Uighurs in their 'reduction camps'. That would be the best course of action.

And, how is that? The West doesn't have to interfere at all. The people of Hong Kong are already independent minded. 70 years of extremely successful self governance, and tremendous prosperity require no help whatsoever from outside democracies. They need no western guidance to figure out the difference between right and wrong. They are as Western as the West is. Taiwan has had the exact same kind of independence that Hong Kong is demonstrating for. Both Taiwan and Hong Kong have been immensely successful, both democratically and economically, and long, long before mainland China tasted any success. Mainland China was largely a peasant dominated country until they introduced western style economic reforms in the late seventies, mid eighties. China can't have it both ways. It's either communism or western style freedoms. Both Taiwan, and Hong Kong peoples know the difference, and will fight for their freedoms - it IS their mentality.

For someone who boasts of their Canadian citizenship, your words sure do always seem to contradict the most basic Canadian values. The very freedoms you take advantage of every day apparently, in your mind, aren't deserved by other human beings elsewhere. This is a strange way of demonstrating your allegiance to a Canadian (democratic) way of life.
