Shoot at sight ordered

GILGIT, July 25: The Northern Areas police chief Sarmad Saeed Khan has said that the extremsist and terrorists would be shot at sight, a local weekly newspaper quoted the IGP as saying on Monday.

The newspaper further quoted the IGP as saying that a handful of terrorists had taken the whole population hostage and now it was time to deal with these elements saying enough is enough.

The paper said the new directives of shoot at sight are applicable to suspected gunrunners with ulterior motives, terrorists and arsonists. He appealed to the local people for cooperation to eliminate these anti-social elements. The paper added that the sectarian tendency among the rank and files of the Northern police had been mitigated to a satisfactory level, the IGP was quoted.

He said concrete steps were being taken to eliminate these elements and no body would be allowed play bloodbath which is already bearing positive results.
