ISLAMABAD: Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Wednesday said Pakistan was amongst most vulnerable countries to climate change.

Addressing at a seminar titled ‘Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Vision to Make Pakistan Green & Clean and Social Responsibilities of the Youth’ the minister, however, said steps were being taken to make Pakistan clean and green.

He said youth could play an effective role to face this challenge through plantation, adding that students could spread awareness message in the society to protect the environment.

“We have to make sustainable utilisation of our resources for the future generations,” he said.

The minister said many cities of Pakistan like Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad were most polluted.

He said that there was a need to recycle garbage to make it useful.

He said after processing the contaminated water could also be used for agriculture.

The minister said in polluted cities garbage should be properly disposed of.

Mr Mehmood said tree plantation campaigns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been recognised globally. He said it’s a good sign that prime minister of the country had been taking interest in environmental issues.

Federal Secretary National History and Literary Heritage Division Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik said Pakistan was among those fortunate states, which are blessed with every kind of resources.
