LAHORE, July 25: Sindh PPP Secretary-General Nafees Siddiqui has alleged the government is promoting rather than combating terrorism through its wrong policies. In a statement, he said fight against terrorism would not yield results unless popular leaders like Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif were allowed to return home.

Once these leaders were back, the PPP leader said, the government should hold fresh elections giving all parties level playing field. He believed that the PPP and the PML-N would sweep the polls, leaving no room for the extremists or terrorists.

He said a single party or an individual could not uproot terrorism. To achieve the target, he said, the rulers should take the entire nation along. Siddiqui believed that Ms Bhutto and Mr Sharif could play an effective role in dealing with the menace.
