SUKKUR, July 25: A mechanical fault was developed in the Guddu thermal power station on Monday caused disturbance in power supply to Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad districts and some parts of Balochistan. Due to continuous disturbance of the power supply for hours in major parts of the upper Sindh and Balochistan, the people of these areas faced great hardships as the weather was sizzling hot and suffocating.

When contacted, the Hesco superintendent engineer (operation), Sukkur, assured that the fault would be rectified soon.

REMAND: An inquiry about involvement of four policemen in providing shelter to killers of eight people near Deh Ghagro has been completed and submitted to the RPO and the DPO.

Sources at the C-section police station said police on Monday presented the six accused involved in the killing of eight Shambhanis in the Anti-Terrorism Court-II, Sukkur, which remanded them in police custody for five days. The accused are: Rafiq Ahmad, Umeed Ali, Ghaus Bux, Dost Mohammad, Saleem and Shamsuddin. The inquiry officer of the case told journalists he had recorded statements of policemen concerned.
