KARACHI, July 25: A young girl died and her sister was seriously injured when a cliff fell on them at Cape Montz beach on Monday. Edhi sources said that the two sisters and four boys from Shah Faisal Town had come to the beach. Both the sisters, Nida and Saba, were sitting beneath the cliff when it slithered. Nida, 19, died on the spot while Saba, 20, suffered serious injuries. Her body was recovered after three hours, as labourers had to be employed for breaking the rock.

In the meantime, Saba was taken to a private hospital where she was admitted for treatment. Edhi sources said that her spinal cord was damaged. All the four boys remained unhurt in the incident. The Mauripur police detained the boys for some hours for questioning.

The sisters were residents of Falaknaz Plaza, Sharea Faisal, while the boys resided in Green Town, Shah Faisal Colony.

RECOVERED: The last body of eight picnickers, who drowned off Sandspit beach on Saturday morning, was washed ashore on Monday morning.

The body of Faraz, 12, was recovered and later handed over to the relatives for the burial.

A joint search operation comprising lifeguards of city government, PALS and navy was launched following the tragic incident. Five bodies identified as Shahzeb,12, Sheena,12, Muhammad Shahid,52, Muzzamil,28, and Muzaffar Khan, 30, were recovered on Saturday. The bodies of Tariq, 30, Ahsan, 15, were recovered on Sunday.

About 40 members of a family had come for an overnight stay at the beach where the incident occurred early on Saturday morning.
