KARACHI, July 25: Speakers at a workshop on Monday recommended that an organization – EFP / NICC Resource Forum — be established to interact with other organizations and assess the needs of the industry for training of its management or the promotion of business and industry in the country.

The recommendation was put forward at the workshop on “Human resource management for strengthening corporate competitiveness”, organized jointly by the Employers Federation of Pakistan and Nippon – Keidanren International Cooperation Centre, Japan.

Japanese Consul-General Shoichi Nakano, who was the chief guest, said that people could learn a lot through such trainings and workshops. By exchanging views, they became aware of what was happening in other parts of the globe and how the people had managed to overcome similar problems.

International Labour Organization Director Dong Lin Li said that the organizations and countries could progress faster by learning from the experiences of others. He stressed that a satisfied workforce played an important role in improved productivity.

NICC Adviser Yasuo Yamaguchi said that one of the aims of the visit of the NICC team was to evaluate how effectively the participants have implemented their training and experience in their respective organizations.

He said that over 150 senior officials of various organizations had been trained in Japan in the past 10 years, whereas over 700 participants from the national as well as multinational organizations had been trained in the country through various seminars and training programmes.

He said that the NICC had formulated a quality management training programme specifically for the top management of the organizations located in the Asian region.

EFP’s Ashraf W. Tabani said that the local people were benefiting from the training being imparted by the NICC professionals here as well as in Japan. He said that such programmes had highlighted the importance of effective training executives and managers in the fields of industrial relations, human resource management and labour management.

Earlier, Motoi Mizuno, Dr Abrar Baig, Saima Khan, Fasih Siddiqui, Ashraf Khan, Tariq Saeed, Naureen Khalid, Naeem Ilyas, S.M. Mujeeburrab, Ghazala Kamal, Mohammad Akram, Khalid Khan, Mobin Mohsin, Shakeelur Rehman, Nadeem Mahmood, Ather Khan, and others also spoke.
