LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Saturday inaugurated the Mobile Police Khidmat Marakaz project for all the districts of Punjab at Greater Iqbal Park.

He also visited the centre opened at Greater Iqbal Park and got information about the services being offered to the citizens. The chief minister was briefed on 14 services to be provided to the citizens at these centres, says a handout.

The chief minister said the citizens visiting these centres should be saved from making repeated visits for the documents. The stamp papers should be provided at the service centres and the counters of the Bank of Punjab should be set up for this purpose. He said the provision of a copy of FIR and other services would be available at the Police Khidmat Marakaz and Mobile Police Khidmat Marakaz.

He said the provision of driving licences and other services through these centres was a laudable step. These centres have been set up in all the districts. About 550,000 people have benefited from these centres in six months.

He said he had inaugurated the centre in Multan about three months ago and later in Rahim Yar Khan and he had then thought that this service should be provided in all remote areas of Punjab. These centres would also be set up at the tehsil level soon, he said.

He said not only citizens would benefit from these centres but these facilities had helped protect police record and provided secured access to the Police Station Record Management System (PSRMS). These centres also have the Criminal Record Management System (CRMS) and Anti-Vehicle Lifting System.

These service centres had helped police in the investigation process. The process of the registration of tenants was also being successfully done through these centres under the National Action Plan, he said.

The chief minister said police had played a key role in the anti-encroachment drives, price control, Ramazan Bazaars, security of mosques and overall control of crime. He said the tragic incident of terrorism had taken place at the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri and police and other law-enforcement agencies worked day in and day out to arrest the suspects.

The chief minister announced a separate quota for the families of the police martyrs in the Prime Minister Housing Scheme and said the financial assistance cases of the families of police martyrs had been cleared. He said all possible resources would be provided to the Punjab police.
