APROPOS the letter ‘Locust attack’ (July 1). I disagree with the writer as he is in favour of using chemicals or insecticides to control of the locust problem. According to a new research carried out by a German, since 1982 the population of insects has decreased 76.8pc.
The decline in the population of insects in a few decades is very high. The study further found that in the next 100 years, the population of insects will become zero, if we continue the practice of killing them.
It will be the second largest mass extinction of any population after dinosaurs.
The repercussions of killing insects will be bad as they help us in many ways. This is how earth was designed. Every creature and plants has a purpose.
