KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society has invited entries for the 23rd APNS Journalist Awards and said the same should be submitted by July 25.
According to an APNS press release, the journalists, photojournalists and cartoonists wishing to take part in the competition should submit for consideration their features, columns, news reports, cartoons and photographs that were published in any member publication between Jan 1, 2017 and Dec 31, 2018.
The editors or chief executives of member publications could also send the entries on behalf of their journalists for the contest, said the press release.
The contestants are not allowed to send entries for more than one category.
The categories are: Best Feature Story in English, Urdu and regional language publications; Best Column in English, Urdu and regional language daily newspapers; Best News Reports; Best Investigative Report; Business/Economic Report; Environmental Conservation/Gender Award;
Best Cover Story for periodicals;
Best Cartoon; and Best Photograph.
The participants are required to send three entries in any one category (six copies of each entry) published in any member publication during the period mentioned, said the APNS secretary general, Sarmad Ali.
The entries must be submitted after having been composed / typed on separate sheets without giving the name of the author and publication, along with a copy of tear-sheet of the publication.
For regional language entries for Best Reports, the entrants are required to submit Urdu / English translation of the entries as well.
Mr Ali further announced that sending of the entries should be responsibility of the individuals concerned and only in case where the names of participants do not appear in the byline, the entry should be countersigned by the competent authority in the publication.
All entries should reach the APNS Secretariat by the deadline and should be addressed to Shahab Zuberi, Chairman, APNS Awards Committee, ST-1/E, Block-16, KDA Scheme No 36, Gulistan-i-Johar, Karachi. Phone: 34012491-3.
