Taimur Brilliant in final

LAHORE, Jan 13: En-Vogue won the Venture Cup polo tournament when they defeated Remounts Maroon 7-4 with Taimur Mawaz Khan scoring three at the Lahore Polo Club Sunday.

En-Vogue took a flying start, scoring three goals in the first chukker to take a 3-0 lead. Taimur scored back-to-back goals and Qubilai Alam got the third with a long hit.

Remounts Maroon showed resistance in the second chukker and managed to pull back two goals to reduce the lead 2-3. Samiullah scored his first goal through a field effort while Khurshid struck his lone goal of the match.

En-Vogue, after a barren second chukkur, struck thrice against one in the third chukkur to stretch their lead to 6-3. Taimur scored a field goal whereas Qubilai scored his second goal. Kamran Noor-ud-Din chipped in with the third.

Remounts got the goal back from Samiullah when he scored off a pass from Khurshid.

Samiullah scored his third goal in the beginning of the fourth chukker, converting a 30-yard penalty hit. But Taimur again increased the lead for En-Vogue by scoring a field goal.

EN-VOGUE: Kamran Noor-ud-Din (0), Taimur Mawaz Khan (2), Malik Asif Yar Tiwana (3), Shah Qubilai Alam (3).

Remounts Maroon: Sufi Muhammad Amir (0), Manzoor Shah (1), Samiullah (3), Khurshid (4).

Earlier, Ahmad Khan and Captain Haseeb scored three and two goals to help Remount Whites finish third. They beat Master Paints 7-4 1/2.

Husain Iftikhar and Shaharyar added a goal each for the winners.

For the losing side, Hamid Ali scored two goals while Maula Bukhsh and Mir Shoaib added one goal each.
