RAWALPINDI: The Metro Bus Service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad was suspended for a day in connection with the arrival of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Islamabad on Thursday.

The buses plied from Saddar to Faizabad but not beyond. The passengers had to go to Islamabad on public transport vehicles. Commuters for Blue Area and Pakistan Secretariat suffered due to the closure of the bus service.

Taxis and wagons cashed in on the situation and charged higher fares.

Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) Rawalpindi In charge Shamila Mohsin told Dawn that the bus service was closed for a day due to security concerns and it would be restored for Islamabad section on Friday.

She said the bus service was closed on the directives of the government, adding that the commuters had been informed about the suspension at the ticket counters.
