PESHAWAR, July 22: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah has hinted at devising a necessity-based community-participated health plan to establish healthcare centres in places lacking such facilities. He was presiding over a meeting convened to review development schemes in health sector in the province at the Civil Secretariat here on Friday.

The meeting discussed projects included in last year’s annual development programme (ADP) and the minister directed the officials concerned to ensure their smooth execution.

He asked the authorities concerned to submit feasibilities of schemes which had been included in the current ADP but had not been approved yet.

The meeting was informed that standardization of 10 district headquarters hospitals would be completed this financial year.

The minister directed the planners to focus on providing health facilities to the people with the participation of local communities.

He elaborated that under the proposed schemes, local communities would be bound to provide a building for a health facility whereas the health department would deploy staff there.

He said that after providing services to the local people successfully for a period of four years, a building would be constructed by the department for the respective unit.

Additional Chief Secretary Mir Laiq Shah, Secretary Health Abdus Samad Khan and high ups of the health and planning and development department attended the meeting.
