KARACHI: PTA clarifies report

Published July 23, 2005

KARACHI, July 22: With reference to a news-item which appeared in the July 21 issue of Dawn, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued the following clarification: “The PTA director public relations, Mustafa Kamal, has said that at the press briefing he had not spoken about the directives issued by the prime minister to the PTA regarding conduct of survey.”

However, he does not deny that Mobilink sent a letter to the prime minister which he forwarded to the PTA. It was upon receipt of the letter that the PTA decided to give a grace period of four weeks to Mobilink.
