MUZAFFARGARH: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has formed an inspection team that will check the roads of Muzaffargarh and Dera Ghazi Khan which were repaired last year.

This was said by Adviser to the Chief Minister MPA Abdul Haye Dasti on Wednesday. He said he approached the chief minister against the maintenance and repair wing of the highways department for its failure to carrying out work while in the record, the wing showed that Rs540 million were spent.

He said when he contacted Highways Executive Engineer Shahid Saleem, he said he was neighbour of the chief minister in Taunsa.

Mr Dasti said when he informed the chief minister about the alleged misuse of funds, he made a team which would check roads.

He said that in the city area no roads were reconstructed or repaired and every time, highways officials said they had no funds.

Mr Dasti said he obtained the Rs540 million figures from the highways office in Lahore.

Dawn has learnt Alipur-Muzaffargarh and Muzaffargarh-Multan roads are in bad condition and have not been repaired in the last two years.

Deputy Commissioner House Road in Tulheri bypass is also broken.

On Tuesday, after a half hour rain, potholes-infested roads turned into puddles. Owners of buses and wagons said whenever the chief minister visited the city, they would complain about bad roads.

The highways (M&R) EXEN said his team had repaired many roads of Muzaffargarh district. He said many times the MPA in question had asked him to repair road but at that time, he had no funds.
