LAHORE, July 21: A civil judge on Thursday restrained a son-in-law of religious scholar Mufti Mukhtar Ahmad Naeemi from taking possession of the property, which he allegedly got transferred in his name through bogus documents. The widow and eight daughters of the late Mufti Naeemi sent a letter to President Musharraf and also moved the local civil court, alleging that Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, who is a son-in-law of the scholar, got all the property in Lahore, Gujrat, Murree and Dherki in Sindh transferred in his name through bogus documents. The accused, they said, got the signature of Mufti Naeemi when he was on death bed.

The property listed by the “bona fide legal heirs” of the late Mufti Naeemi include Jamia Ghausia Naeemia, Mukhtar Hall and houses and plots in Gujrat, the ancestral city of the scholar.

The petitioners further alleged that their brother-in-law had fraudently taken possession of the Maktaba-i-Islami in Lahore, which was the late Mufti Naeemi’s publishing house.— Correspondent
