KARACHI: The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has demanded that the Sindh government should be sacked immediately because in the presence of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government in the province, a fair accountability of its leaders is not possible.

The alliance also urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to grant a special package to Sindh.

The demands were made by the GDA core committee which met at the residence of Irfanullah Khan Marwat here on Sunday.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara, who presided over the meeting, held the PPP government responsible for ‘corruption and devastation of agriculture’ in Sindh.

He said that it was high time to protect the resources of the country and governance. He asked the judiciary to take notice of crimes, bad governance and corruption in Sindh.

The meeting was attended by Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi, Ayaz Latif Palijo, Murtaza Jatoi, Arbab Ghulam Rahim and others, besides Irfanullah Khan Marwat.

The participants in the meeting reviewed the over-all political situation in the backdrop of the arrest of PPP-Parliamentarian president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister MNA Faryal Talpur and also reviewed the federal and Sindh budgets presented recently.

Speaking at the meeting, Pir Pagara said that the PPP government was responsible for corruption and devastation of agriculture in Sindh. He said that the GDA after coming to power would do justice with the people of Sindh.

Mr Palijo said that Sindh ministers did not take any concrete measures to save the children dying in Thar and Badin but remained busy in holding meetings only.

He said that ‘Sindh card’ was no more effective for corruption.

The Sindh government had turned cities into a dump of garbage, he added.

He demanded of the federal government to do justice with Sindh by providing water, employment and resources to meet requirements of the province.

Pir Sadruddin Shah said that all resources of Sindh had been plundered mercilessly.

Irfanullah Khan Marwat described the Sindh government as corrupt and said that accountability could not be completed without dismissal of the Sindh government.

Murtaza Jatoi said that the people of Sindh were in the grip of poverty and lawlessness.

Safdar Abbasi said that time had come that people of Sindh should rise against corruption.

After the meeting, talking to media Ayaz Latif Palejo said that the GDA had expressed concern over increasing price hike and demanded of the government to control rising inflation.

He said that arrest of the ‘corrupt’ leaders was not enough rather they should be punished as the Sindh government had destroyed every institution in Sindh.

He also called for investigation into loans and aid given to the province in the past.

Zulfiqar Mirza recalled that a few years ago fake cases were registered against him, and advised Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari not to walk in the footsteps of his father and aunt.
