KARACHI, July 21: The Federal Health Minister, Mohammad Nasir Khan, will inaugurate the country’s first National Health Management Conference on July 30. This was announced on Thursday in a press conference jointly addressed by President, College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP) Prof Sultan Farooqui, CPSP Secretary Prof Irshad Waheed, Programme Director, Health Care Systems Management Programme of the College Dr Fowzia Hoodbhoy.

The two-day event with the theme of ‘Managing for Better Health’ was said to be part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the management system in the country by raising awareness about the important but neglected aspect of health care.

According to organisers, it will also be aimed at providing a broad platform to senior professionals working in health service organizations to share their experience.

Specific objectives of the conference include promotion in the area of health care systems management and orientation of health care professionals to the concepts of management and its application to health care programmes, projects and relevant institutions.

Federal Health Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood is expected to be the chief guest at the concluding session of the event.

The conference would comprise scientific presentations, workshops and exhibition.

Topics to be covered include the health care quality management, health services management, planning and strategic management, project management and health management research.—APP
