KHAR: Three persons, including a woman, were critically injured when a bomb exploded in an under-construction house of a tribal elder in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.

Local residents and officials told Dawn that family members of Malik Dilwar Khan were mixing construction material in the under-construction house in Sango area when an explosive device planted in a pile of sand exploded with a bang, injuring three persons.

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar, by the local people.

A doctor at the hospital told this correspondent that condition of the wounded, identified as Nizam Khan, Nowsher Khan and Sajila Bibi, was out of danger.

Hours after the explosion, officials of the district administration and personnel of Levies force visited the site of the blast.

An official told Dawn that investigation had been initiated to find out the motive of the blast. No one claimed responsibility for the explosion.
