Two drown in Layyah

MULTAN, July 19: A man and his son drowned in a flood-hit area of Layyah district on Monday. Allah Diwaya and his son Zahid were crossing a creek of the Indus in Sumra Nasiab riverine area when a high tide took them away. Their bodies could not be recovered till late on Monday night. As much as 471,000 cusec water was passing when the incident took place.

The swell in the Indus this year had played havoc with crops besides displacement of people in Layyah, which is ranked as the most backward district in Punjab.
