SHEIKHUPURA, July 19: Police claimed to have arrested 11 members of three alleged gangs and recovered seven vehicles, besides booty worth million of rupees from their possession. DPO Ibne Hussain said here on Tuesday that the gangs, wanted in more than 50 criminal cases, were busted during the last week. He said four outlaws of ‘Billa gang’, identified as Amanat, Ashraf and Umar Hayat, were wanted in 20 cases. As many as six vehicles and other stolen goods were recovered from them, he added.
The police also arrested Tanweer Shahid and Salman Butt of ‘Teru gang’, who were allegedly involved in more than 26 robberies in Lahore, Sheikupura and Hafizabad districts, he said. The outlaws had also injured a constable in an encounter with police at Khanka Dogran, the DPO added.
He said that four accused Imran, Muhammad Yousaf, Tariq Maseeh and Mateen of ‘Khadim gang’ were also arrested. Their modus operandi was to extort money from factory owners under threat of life, he said and added the gang was also involved in five robberies.
A motorcycle and weapons were also recovered from the members of this gang, he concluded.—APP
