GUJRANWALA, July 19: Three members of a family, including an infant, were injured when the roof of their house caved in owing to rain at Khiali Shahpur on Tuesday. Reports said Sikandar’s family was in the house when its roof collapsed leaving them buried under the debris. The people of the area recovered Farzana, the wife of Sikandar, his sister Khadija and nine-month old Mehjabeen and took them to the Mayo Hospital.

NOTICES: As many as 15 TMA officials, including five officers, were issued show-cause notices, and their salaries were withheld on the charge of absence from duty here on Tuesday.

City TMA Administrator Zubair Hussain conducted surprise raids at municipal offices and found five officers and 10 officials absent from their duties. The administrator also informed DCO about the absent officers.

He said uplift works and sanitation services in the city were suffering due to the absence of the officers concerned.
