Pakistan-Bangladesh warm-up game abandoned as rain plays spoilsport

The World Cup warm-up match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Cardiff on Sunday was called off without a ball being bowled due to rain.

Bangladesh play one more warm-up game against India on Tuesday while Pakistan have no more warm-up matches to play, kicking off their World Cup campaign against West Indies on Friday at Trent Bridge.

Last Friday, Afghanistan had launched their World Cup campaign with a superb performance against Pakistan, winning by three wickets in a tight warm-up at the Bristol County Ground.

The warm-up game between South Africa and West Indies was also washed out today.

The Proteas impressed in the brief and interrupted time they had at the crease, reaching 95-0 in 12.4 overs against West Indies at the County Ground in Bristol.

Hashim Amla hit an undefeated 46-ball 51 with one six and eight fours and opening partner Quinton de Kock was 37 not out after West Indies won the toss and chose to field.

South Africa play England in the opening match on Thursday.

Green survive as Bangladesh sure offer good batting and bowling and beat green in Asia cup. Pakistan has produce very talented bowlers and batsmen. Talent still out there.... !!!!!

Right now BD is in good form after it played a tri-nation match. BD won all the matches against WI. On the other hand recently Pakistan too played a few matches and lost most of the matches including one against Afganistan. Still I say Pakistan is in good shape too considering team's experienced players, intensive practises etc. Hopefully losing to Afganistan will not create a big pressrum on the players.

Considering the recent past evaluation of the team,s performance it can be conclude that the rain perhaps helped the team to avoid another humiliating defeat by Bangladesh.

I think it is a blessing for Pakistan team, if they had played, they for sure would have lost, as they lost to Afghanistan in the 1st warm up game. Pakistan team does not look strong, and good enough to face any best team. Hope they play a high standard class game, and try to win some of the games in England during this World Cup 2019. Good luck Pakistan...

Would it be too harsh to ask whether the rain was, in fact, a blessing, sparing the green shirts another dose of embarrassment a la the kind suffered against the Afghans? Pakistan must bat with more intent and score more briskly to get bigger totals given the inability of its bowlers to crack opposition batting line-ups, particularly in the first power-play.

If we win our opening Match against the West Indies then we will win few more and will probably reach semifinal. If not then it’s best to come back with our head down.
