RAWALPINDI: Timber and cotton warehouses were gutted in two fire incidents reported from Rawat and in New Amarpura on Zafarul Haq Road on Wednesday.

The first incident happened when a fire broke out in a timber warehouse owned by Malik Siraj near Rawat at about 8:45am.

Shortly after the fire broke out, the fire fighters and police rushed to the scene of fire and started operation which continued for more than two hours.

However, nobody was hurt or injured in the fire. A large number of people from surrounding areas gathered around the scene of fire and traffic on the main road was also halted.

According to rescue services, 18 other shops were also affected in the fire and a motorcycle was damaged. The cause of the fire was electric short circuit.

The second incident of fire was reported from new Ammarpura Mohallah where cotton warehouse was gutted. Nobody was injured in the fire.

Another similar incident happened in Pirwadhai area at 5pm when a fire broke out in a godown where cotton material was stored.

The firefighters rushed to the scene and started operation. However, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
