OKARA: The Depalpur court of additional sessions judge (ASJ) handed down six death sentences each to father and his son as both along with other accomplices had shot dead six members of a family in 2013 over a love marriage case.

Tahir Sarwar court married Shahnaz Bibi, the relative woman of Shoukat Ali and his son Muhammad Hussain, in Depalpur.

ASJ Khalid Zia Fareed heard the murder case and handed down back-to-back six death sentences to both Shoukat and Muhammad Hussain besides Rs1.8 million fine each.

The court declared accomplices Arshad, Ibrahim, Qayyum, Imran and Afzal innocent on the benefit of doubt. According to the police challan, they shot dead Tahir Sarwar, his wife Shahnaz Bibi, brother Zahid Sarwar, son Adnan Sarwar, Hamza Nawaz and Reesh Bibi.
