KARACHI: A woman was found shot dead in the Bin Qasim area early on Thursday morning, said police.

They added that the body of the woman with bullet wounds was recovered from bushes at gate number four of Port Qasim.

The victim was identified as Sardar Khatoon, 40. She was a resident of Daud Chowrangi in Quaidabad.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities. The police approached the family which said that some relatives had taken her to Hasan Shah Baba Mazar near Ghaghar Phatak, and allegedly gunned her down at an abandoned place.

Area SHO Arif Razzak said that one suspect had been identified as Sanwal, who is said to be a cousin of the husband of the deceased. The police termed the murder an outcome of some personal enmity.

Youth held for ‘harassing’ woman

The Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing on Thursday claimed to have arrested a young man for allegedly blackmailing a woman in Larkana.

According to FIA additional director Faizullah Korejo the suspect was harassing the woman by sending her pictures. A case has been registered against him.

Police seize 3,234 mobile phones

Mochko police on Thursday claimed to have seized over 3,000 mobile phones worth millions of rupees.

Acting on a tip-off, Mochko police arrested two persons onboard a Suzuki van and recovered 3,234 mobile phones being illegally smuggled into the country, said City SSP Muqaddus Haider.

The confiscated mobile phones are worth more than Rs8 million, added the officer.
