LAHORE, July 16: The Jamaat-i-Islami has criticized the federal government’s reaction to the Hasba bill passed by the NWFP government, describing it as an open interference in the provincial affairs. A meeting of its central executive committee adopted a resolution through which it rejected the language used by the federal government against and reaction of the NWFP governor to the bill.

It demanded that the federal as well as other provincial governments should set up Hasba authority and boards as recommended by the Council of Islamic Ideology back in 1997 for meeting requirements of the Constitution.

The committee greeted the NWFP assembly for passing the bill.
