FAISALABAD, July 16: The district police on Friday registered cases against six prayer leaders for allegedly violating ban on misuse of loudspeaker. The Punjab government had imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers of mosques, except for Azan and Khutba. The police said Qari Abdullah of Rehmat Town, Maulana Ataullah of Kaleem Shaheed Colony, Maulvi Abdullah of Iqbal Town, Sufi Bashir Ahmad of Ghulam Muhammadabad, Maulana Abdul Rehman of Nishatbad and Maulvi Habibullah of Chak No 57-JB were using the loudspeakers of mosques for their speeches.

The police instituted cases against the prayer leaders.

ARRESTS: District Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains claims that the police have arrested during a two-day campaign 93 people for illegally keeping arms.

The DPO told journalists on Saturday that several complaints had been received by the police about the display of arms by the people to create fear among the public.

RANA SANA: PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah Khan, the deputy opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, has urged the masses to reject the corrupt candidates backed by the government.

Speaking to the participants in an election meeting held at Sir Syed Town Saturday, the PML-N leader said “the rulers and their cronies are plundering the national wealth by deceiving people.”
