Adil leads trials for Numera Cup

KARACHI, July 15: Lahore Gymkhana’s Adil Jahangir leads National golf trials at the midway stage of 72 holes at Arabian Sea Country Club on Friday. The trials, organised by Pakistan Golf Federation, will help pick a four-member squad for “Numera Cup” Asia Pacific golf championship to be staged at Narita Golf Club in Tokyo, Japan in September.

Adil fired second round of three-over-par 75 after making four-over 76 to lead the field of 17 golfers with an ag-gregate of 151 in the four-day trials.

Pakistan’s top amateur Waqas Ahmed is placed second with 152 after having rounds of 76 each while legendry golfer and secretary PGF Taimur Hasan is tied for third place at 155 (74-81) with Muhammad Safdar of Lahore (75-84).

Daniyal Jahangir, younger brother of Adil, is fifth at 156 after two rounds of 77 and 79.

Ansar Mahmood of Karachi Golf Club is sixth after disappointing rounds of 81 and 80 and Karrar Hussain has scrambled to seventh with rounds of 84 and 77.—APP
