Why don't the clerics relenquish moon sighting to the met department who can give them the exact moon calender. If they accepted prayer timings by the clock why not the moon calender. Then the entire Muslim world can celebrate together. Why continue with this ignorance.

Moon already sighted At Masjid Qasim Ali Khan Peshawar. Mullahs announced on the Masjid speakers.

Alhamdulillah just came back from salat tarawih in Dubai, here we do not have these fellows for moon sighting period.

The entire world celebrates Eid on one day. And this guy makes every Pakistani fast on Eid.

Maghrib prayer time at Lahore on 5th May 2019 was 6:45 PM and at Jiwani, (in Baluchistan, which is the farthest point towards West), it was 7:26 PM. An extra time of 41 minutes between Lahore and Jiwani can solve the riddle. Jiwani about 400 miles Saudi Arabia, has almost the same possibilities of sighting a new Moon. Secondly, due to year long clear visibility, it has better chances of observing the Moon. Phasing of Moon is a result of seamless movement, unlike geared clock movement. Therefore if a new Moon is not sighted at Lahore because of its very small starting crescent at its dipping time, it can grow sufficiently and became visible within next 41 minutes to become visible at Jiwani. The problem can be solved once for all, simply by making it mandatory for our Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Observe Moon only and exclusively at Jiwani. Being part of Pakistan, Jiwani should have no objection from any quarters while almost coinciding with the dates observed in Saudi Arabia.

To be very honest, as far as I remember this guy saw moon only twice which means we Pakistanis have only twice or maybe thrice celebrated Eid togeatther. This time again 22 sightings in KPK but none or not sufficient enough for Muneeb Ur Rehman. What is the problem? The same question we r asking for so long and looks like we will be asking again on Eid sighting. Any way Happy Ramzan

Ask two mullahs a question, expect three answers. Moon sighting should be in the domain of the meteorological department.

My friend is Islamabad saw the moon with naked eye for good 6 minutes. He showed it to other people while Ruet Committee announced there was no one in the country as witness to the moon!!

The whole point of not determining the date well in advance using science is political - the muftis are basically saying - "we will determine the date you celebrate Ramzan, and no one else". It's a pure power play.

Finally no different starting days in various parts of Pakistan.

Why are they using telescope and not the naked eyes? These mullahs are against anything scientific except what they cheery pick based on their whims.

So ridiculous! In the age where other nations have set up satellites and expeditions into the space. People are using telescope to sight moon to follow Ramadan or not! Telescopes can't see through dense clouds

Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneebur Rehman should look for the moon from an area without light pollution.

this guy and his whole team needs to be fired. in thi day and age, do we really need them? what a aste of money and resources!

Most of the comments seem to be from people who follow other religious opinions. Why so much hate? What is Ramadan about? No need for this if you are a Muslim. If you appoint a leader then you should respect their opinion. Learn to be civilised.

@Bhartendu Sinha, the new /crescent moon isn't visible at night. It only appears in the evening briefly.

Believe it or not but we have a committee that help us watch the moon and then later tell us what happened.

When astronomical tables clearly showed that it was a no moon day having a ruet e hilal committee meeting only shows the ignorance of the people and makes the organisers an object of ridicule for all.

An eye sighted the same moon in Peshawar, but Munib and his coterie could not trace even through telescope across the country. Amazing and need to think over it seriously!
